Andrew Tidswell

Head Coach & Managing Director

After leaving school with 13 GCSE'S I went into Full Time football with Rushden & Diamonds Football Club. Having spent 2 years at Rushden & Diamonds training and playing, I also made sure I came away with other grades and knowledge in the coaching side. Leaving Rushden & Diamonds I went on to Histon FC in the Blue Square Premier. Again 2 seasons and playing at the highest level of non-league football. I turned to coaching, I started to work and deliver in Primary Schools in getting kids active as well as enjoying their sports. Now 18 I became Head Coach of Histon U15 Academy side. Here we would train twice a week to develop players and take on teams such as Norwich, Ipswich, West Brom. Once I left Histon as a player I also left as a Coach. My Football coaching career went on, where I joined the Cambridge United Football Club Staff. For 2 years I was the Academy U10 coach and currently coaching the U12's. During this time we play teams such as Chelsea, Fulham, Brighton, Arsenal, Southampton. During my links and coaching I have also had the opportunity to coach in European countries, seeing different cultures and ways of life. As well as Cambridge United I began to think about how I could give children better chances and experiences in sport. Here came the Elite Sports Academy, I set this company up to offer children what I believe is the best sporting guidance. Offering chances in many sports, such as Tag Rugby, Football, Dance, Cricket and many more. Currently we distribute over 50 sessions a week at 8 primary schools and other extra-curricular clubs such as Soccer Tots and Elite Dancers. Myself and my staff all have a unique sport which we specify in but many of our coaches have multiple qualifications and knowledge in many sports.

PPA & CURRICULAR COACH

My first taste of sport of any kind was football when my dad took me to watch Spalding United when I was about 10. From then on I have really enjoyed my sport especially football, but I do take a keen interest in other sports, I joined my first football club at aged 11. During secondary school I got picked to play for the district football team and we would play against other counties, and the school football team which I played for got to the league final 3 years running. At college I was doing the football academy at Peterborough regional college which had, set up a link with Peterborough United which led to playing against their youth team. We would get specialized coaching three days a week and would play in a competitive college league, it was during my time at college where I gained interest into the coaching side of sport and gained my FA level 1 in football during this period, I'm hoping that I can pass on some of my experiences and knowledge to the children and for them to enjoy their sports.

Curricular Coach - Head of Fitness

I have been a qualified fitness instructor for 22 years. I have always been passionate about health and fitness and have encouraged my 3 children to feel the same way. They have all loved sport and I became more and more involved in sport for children as they have grew up. I could see how important it was to make sport fun so all children would want to be involved. As well as my regular fitness classes I began to coach Hula Hoop clubs in schools. Even the non sporty children loved it and I knew I wanted to get more involved in motivating children to take up a sport or simply become more active.
